Después de 11 años, el Aeropuerto de Creel podría iniciar operaciones.
A las puertas de la salida del gobernador Javier Corral Jurado, se desataron críticas respecto al incumplimiento de su promesa sobre la entrega del Aeropuerto Internacional de Creel a inicios del 2021, extendiendo su apertura 6 meses más. La operación del aeropuerto lleva 8 años de retraso, desde el anuncio de su construcción el 26 de septiembre de 2010 y bajo la promesa de estar listo en 3 años.
Se había estimado que el aeropuerto generaría una derrama económica de mil millones de pesos durante el primer quinquenio de operación. Aunque hubo avances en la construcción durante la administración de Corral, la esperanza de que estuviera a tiempo no existió.
Ante la crítica, el titular de la Secretaría de Innovación y Desarrollo Económico, Antonio Fernández, afirmó que el aeropuerto cuenta con un avance del 98 por ciento en equipamiento y un 96 por ciento en obra física, así como un 80 por ciento de permisos que se necesitan para su actividad. Afirmó que una orden judicial con fecha del 20 de diciembre del 2020 impide que se concluya el 100 por ciento las operaciones.
El aeropuerto representa grandes beneficios para la zona serrana, en especial para el sector minero, forestal y turístico. Además, su apertura generará 100 empleos directos y 500 indirectos y contribuye a generar empleos formales en áreas difíciles.
Hasta la fecha, administraciones pasadas han invertido más de 640 millones en la operación, y se estima que una vez librada la orden judicial impuesta en 2020, se podrán iniciar operaciones en un periodo máximo de 6 meses.
